Weight Loss & How It Works

How to Choose an Online Weight Loss Clinic in Florida

October 6, 2026 · Medically reviewed by Gabrielle Radabaugh, APRN · 9 min read

The thing that separates a real online weight loss clinic in Florida from a subscription app is whether a Florida licensed provider actually evaluates you on video, keeps looking at your dose every month, and is reachable by name when something feels wrong. Everything else, the branding, the app, the before and after photos, is the same everywhere. Before you pay anybody, ask nine questions: is there a live video visit, is the provider licensed in Florida, can I look them up, is the medication in the price, does the price go up with my dose, is there a membership fee, who answers when I text, who makes the dose decision, and can I cancel. With us the answer is a video visit with a licensed Florida nurse practitioner, $375 for the first appointment including your first month, from $299 a month after, no membership fee, and month to month.

Why This Is Genuinely Hard to Judge From Outside

Search for a weight loss clinic in Florida and the first page is almost entirely national subscription companies, most of which look identical, all of which show you a photo of someone in a white coat, and none of which tell you who you'll actually be talking to. Some of them are perfectly good. Some of them are a questionnaire, an algorithm and a shipping label. From the outside they're hard to tell apart, which is exactly the point of how they're built.

So rather than tell you who to pick, here's the list of questions that separate the two, and our answers to all nine so you can hold us to the same standard.

The Nine Questions

1. Is there a live video visit with a human, before anything is prescribed?

This is the one that matters most. A form you fill out is not an evaluation. If nobody ever sees you or talks to you, nobody has evaluated whether this medication is safe for you specifically. Our answer: yes, every patient has a video visit with a provider before anything is prescribed.

2. Is the provider licensed in Florida?

Treating a patient located in Florida requires a Florida license or a Florida telehealth registration. A company can be headquartered anywhere, but the person treating you has to be licensed here. Our answer: yes, and you can verify it yourself in about two minutes. The Florida Department of Health runs a free license lookup at the MQA search. Our nurse practitioner is Gabrielle Radabaugh, APRN, and she holds autonomous practice registration with the Florida Board of Nursing. Look her up. Then look up whoever else you're considering, and notice how often you can't, because they won't tell you the name.

3. Is the medication included in the monthly price, or billed separately?

This is where comparison falls apart. A $99 a month membership sounds cheaper than $299 until the medication arrives on a separate invoice. Our answer: included. $299 a month covers the medication, the visits and your dose changes together.

4. Does the price go up when my dose goes up?

Many programs tier by dose, so the number quoted in month one isn't what you pay in month five, right when you're least likely to switch. Our answer: semaglutide stays $299 at every dose. Tirzepatide is $399 and goes to $449 at the higher doses, and we say that up front rather than at month five.

5. Is there a membership, enrollment or platform fee?

Our answer: no. There is no membership fee and no enrollment fee. Your first appointment is $375 and it includes your first month.

6. Who answers when I text, and do they know my chart?

This is the difference people feel in month three. Our answer: you text 561-216-7066 and a nurse or provider who has your chart in front of them writes back, usually within a couple of hours during the day. Not a ticket number, not a different name every time.

7. Who decides my dose, a person or software?

Automatic monthly escalation is a business model, not a clinical plan. Our answer: a provider reviews your dose every month and moves it when it should move, which sometimes means holding you where you are.

8. What exactly am I being prescribed, and where is it prepared?

You're entitled to a straight answer to this. Ask whether the product is an FDA approved brand product or compounded, and if compounded, which pharmacy prepares it. Compounded medications are not FDA approved and are not reviewed by the FDA for safety or effectiveness, and the rules around compounding these particular drugs have changed more than once in the last two years. A provider who gets vague here is the wrong provider. Our answer: ask us on your visit and you'll get the specific answer for what you're being prescribed.

9. Can I cancel, and what happens to the medication I already paid for?

Our answer: month to month, cancel whenever you want. Medication that has already been prescribed and shipped cannot be returned or refunded, which is true everywhere and is worth knowing before you order a three month supply.

The Three Models, and What Each One Costs

ModelWhat it usually runsWhat you give up
A national subscription appA membership fee plus medication, often $150 to $400 a month all inContinuity. Different name every time, no direct line, dose often escalated on a schedule
A local practice that bills insuranceCopay plus whatever your plan does or does not coverAccess and speed, and the coverage question is usually no for weight management
A direct pay Florida practice like ours$375 first appointment including the first month, then from $299Insurance reimbursement, since we do not bill it

Four Things That Should End the Conversation

What Working With Us Looks Like

You fill in the form or text us, we text back the same day, and you get on video with a Florida licensed provider from wherever you are in the state. They go through your history and what you've already tried, you agree on a medication and a starting dose together, and it ships to your door with the supplies and instructions. Every month a provider looks at your dose again, and in between you text us and a person writes back. There's no in person visit, nobody drives to you, and it works the same in Pensacola as it does in Miami. The whole process is laid out on how it works, and who we can and can't treat is on who qualifies.

And if you want the version where we compare ourselves to the national brands honestly, including where they beat us, that's on us versus the national brands.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if an online weight loss clinic is legitimate in Florida?

The provider treating you must be licensed in Florida, and you can check that yourself for free through the Florida Department of Health license lookup. A legitimate program also includes a live video evaluation before anything is prescribed, names the provider responsible for your care, publishes its prices, and lets you cancel month to month.

Can a nurse practitioner prescribe weight loss medication in Florida?

Yes. Florida grants autonomous practice registration to qualifying advanced practice registered nurses, and an APRN with that registration can evaluate you, prescribe and manage your care. Our nurse practitioner, Gabrielle Radabaugh, APRN, holds that registration with the Florida Board of Nursing.

Do I need to see a doctor in person to get weight loss medication in Florida?

Not for the programs we offer. Medical weight loss with us is delivered entirely by telehealth, with a video evaluation and your medication shipped to your address anywhere in Florida.

How much should online weight loss cost in Florida?

Expect a real program to land somewhere between roughly $150 and $450 a month once the medication is counted. Ours is $375 for the first appointment including your first month, then $299 a month for semaglutide, $399 to $449 for tirzepatide, or $200 for a daily pill.

What questions should I ask before signing up?

Whether there is a live video visit, whether the provider is licensed in Florida, whether the medication is in the price, whether the price rises with your dose, whether there is a membership fee, who answers when you text, who decides your dose, what exactly you are being prescribed and where it is prepared, and whether you can cancel.

Is an app cheaper than a real practice?

Often it looks cheaper and often it is not, because a low membership fee is usually quoted before the medication, and many programs raise the price as your dose rises. Compare the all in monthly number at the dose you expect to be on in month five, not month one.

Do you serve all of Florida?

Yes for weight loss and anything telehealth, because our providers are licensed statewide and every visit happens on video. Our in home services, like IV therapy and house calls, are limited to Palm Beach County.
